Liquid lipsticks have been around for quite some time, however, recently they have been exploding in popularity. Beauty bloggers and vloggers have been sharing their favorites and giving tips on how to wear them and it seems just about EVERY cosmetic brand has their version of a liquid lip. All liquid lips are NOT created equal. There are matte liquid lips, glossy liquid lips, mousey liquid lipsticks, etc. (you get the idea). You will want to avoid what is referred to as “butthole” lips where the lipstick peels off the inside of your lips, leaving only the outer lips lined… looking like yes, a butthole. I always gravitate toward a matte liquid lip because I find they last longer, but it can be hard to find a matte lip that is hydrating and does not crackle throughout the day. I think a nude liquid lip is a great starting point if you are new to liquid lipstick. I will share with you the 4 best matte nude liquid lips in my experience (keep in mind I do like a more mauvey/pink nude shade). The Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor is by far my favorite drugstore liquid lip. The formula is super light weight and easy to wear. The only thing I dislike about the formula is that it is not as matte as I would like for it to be, I would consider it to be more of a semi-matte. If you are new to matte lips – this is a great place to start as this is not extremely matte. The color seduction is seriously the perfect nude shade. They wear for a pretty long time (for a drugstore liquid lip) before it becomes flaky and dried. All liquid lipsticks tend to crack and become dried up, that is just their nature and there is really no way to avoid it.
The Dose of Colors Liquid Lipstick in Bare With Me, is my most recent liquid lip purchase and by far my favorite. I have worn this everyday to work since I have purchased it. This is a nude lip that gives you just an itty bitty bit of color, making your lips almost bare. The formula is SUPER dry and matte, which I absolutely LOVE. My only drawback is that I wish it was a little more hydrating, it is a little dry. I can not wait to try more of the dose of colors liquid lips!
The Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick, was my first liquid lipstick purchase. The saleswoman at Ulta recommended it to me, as she took me over to grab it… she realized it was sold out. After two more unsuccessful trips to Ulta, I was finally able to purchase the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in the shade Patina. Let me tell you… it was definitely worth the weight. The formula is super rich and creamy, light-weight, and extremely long lasting. Whenever I wear this my mom and aunts are in complete shock that after a meal, my lipstick still has not budged. The Stila Stay All Day liquid lipstick is seriously the long lasting lip trick, it lasts for at LEAST 6 hours. It is super matte, which of course I love. However, it is not too dry like the Dose of Colors liquid lip. The Patina color is absolutely gorgeous but is more of a mauvey pink nude.
The most hydrating liquid lipstick – the Tartiest Lip Paint. This liquid lip is more of a mousey formula, making it super velvety and and hydrating. Be careful with the application, as it can get messy. It dries into a super matte finish – not quite as matte as the Stila liquid lip, however, it is also not as dry as the Stila. The color of TBT is by favorite part of this liquid lip – it is another mauve/pink shade – which is my favorite type of nude
